Consumer Action Law Centre is an independent, not-for-profit consumer organisation based in Melbourne. We work to advance fairness in consumer markets, particularly for disadvantaged and vulnerable consumers, through financial counselling, legal advice and representation, and policy work and campaigns.
Delivering assistance services to Victorian consumers, we have a national reach through our deep expertise in consumer law and policy and direct knowledge of the consumer experience of modern markets.
Financial Counselling Australia (FCA) is the national voice of the financial counselling profession in Australia. We are a not-for-profit organisation that:
- Provides resources and support for financial counsellors
- Advocates to increase access to financial counselling;
- Works to raise the profile of financial counsellors;
- Advocates for a fairer marketplace; and
- Works to improve hardship processes for people in financial difficulty.
There are approximately 950 financial counsellors in Australia. Through their efforts, thousands of Australians are able to overcome financial hardship. FCA works in collaboration with the State and Territory financial counselling associations.
CHOICE is the leading consumer advocacy group in Australia. Independent and member-funded, we ensure that Australian consumers get a fair go.
We want the voices of consumers to be heard and we’re constantly on the look out for dodgy or misleading practices. Whether it’s campaigning for consumer rights, making shopping easier, testing products or giving unbiased advice about food, finance and health, CHOICE has the expertise to make sure consumers get the best information.
The Financial Rights Legal Centre is a community legal centre specialising in financial services, particularly in the areas of consumer credit, banking, debt recovery and insurance.
We are one of the only centres in Australia that fully integrates telephone assistance and financial counselling with legal advice and representation. We also operate the Insurance Law Service, a national specialist consumer insurance advice service.
Indigenous Consumer Assistance Network Ltd (ICAN) provides consumer education, advocacy and financial counselling services to Indigenous consumers across the nation, with a vision of “Empowering Indigenous Consumers”.
We provide Indigenous consumers with assistance to alleviate consumer detriment, education to make informed consumer choices and consumer advocacy services to highlight and tackle consumer disadvantage experienced by Indigenous peoples.
Consumer Credit Legal Service (WA) Inc. (CCLSWA) is a not-for-profit charitable organisation which provides legal advice and representation to consumers in Western Australia in the areas of credit, banking and finance.
We take an active role in community legal education, law reform and policy issues affecting consumers.

The Redfern Legal Centre provides free legal advice and casework, delivers community legal education and engage in law reform.
The RLC offers a Financial Abuse Legal Service. RLC’s Financial Abuse Legal Service provides free, confidential legal information and advice to people across NSW who have money problems due to domestic abuse in an intimate partner relationship.
